As schools around the world come together to celebrate spooky, scary skeletons, CSArts’ campus gives teenagers a deeper creative outlet and sense of self. The week leading up to Halloween, CSArts’ campus is decked out with festive spirit. Leadership plans out an entire week twisted with eerie dedication like twin days, haunting PJs, and class colors with a hint of uncanniness.
One of the most eye-catching events is our Painted Pumpkin Auction, which is a fundraiser with beautifully crafted pumpkins designed by Visual Arts students. These captivating masterpieces get displayed in the lobby before being auctioned off to CSArts families. “People at CSArts find a way to be someone else while also finding a way to be themselves,” said Mariam Ghazaryan. The community comes together to express their favorite cozy traditions, and families get to take home a gourd of art.
Our annual costume contest is held at lunch the Friday of Halloween in the quad. Many of our students create their own displays of dedicated hours, creativity, and pure seasonal joy! “It was fun to play a character in that moment and give people temporary joy. I remember seeing smiles and cheers. I was in a good mood the whole day because I was Bob Ross. It was the best happy accident,” Angelina Grimaldi said. Just like the students, staff and teachers dress up in corresponding costumes based on the grade level they teach.
When Hallow’s Eve comes a-knockin’, don’t forget to check out the ghoulish gatherings of this hearty holiday.
